From October 7 to 10, 2009, the 55th General Assembly of the Atlantic Treaty Association took place this year in Kiev, Ukraine. The decision for the General Assembly to be held in Kiev was decided during the 53rd GA in Ottawa, Canada, and was certified in the 54th GA in Berlin, Germany. Mr Theodossis Georgiou, President of the Greek Association for Atlantic and European Cooperation had supported the choice for the 55th GA to be held in Kiev this year. The 15th International Meeting of EuroDefense in London
From 9th to 11th of September 2009 the 15th EuroDefense International Meeting took place in London, United Kingdom. It was organized by EuroDefense-UK and was attended by representatives of all national EuroDefense associations as well as experts and officials from different international organizations and NGOs.
Mr. Theodossis Georgiou, the Chairman of the Greek Association for Atlantic and European Cooperation and the President of EuroDefense-Greece took part in this conference and was invited as a speaker in the 3rd Session of the Conference “The Trans-Atlantic link: What path now?”. Read more...

The 14th Institute for Political and Economic Studies (IIPES) has started on the 25th of July in Chania, Crete. 90 students from 26 countries (Greece, USA, Albania, Bosnia and Hercogovina, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kosovo UNMIK, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Montenegro, Palestinian Authority, Romania, Serbia, Syria, Tunisia and Turkey) will study important principles of political and economic organization and how those ideas relate to international conflict and conflict resolution. “Robin Beard Lecture Series” 2009
Following the tradition of a lecture devoted to Robin Beard, established 2 years ago in Chania, Greece by the Greek Association for Atlantic and European Cooperation and the Fund for American Studies, the two associations were given the chance to host this year’s edition of the lecture, delivered by the NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy Strategy – Dr. Stefanie Babst in Prague, Czech Republic. Alumni Meeting in Bucharest
From the 25th to the 27th May, Mr. Theodossis Georgiou participated in a forum devoted to the relations of the European Union and Russia. While being in Bucharest he met with alumni of the educational programs annually organized by the Greek Association for Atlantic and European Cooperation, such as Kernels of Our Future, Euro-Mediterranean Journalism Institute (EMJI), and International Institute for Political and Economic Studies (IIPES). As the EU-Russia Forum took place in Bucharest it also served as a great opportunity for Mr. Theodossis Georgiou to get together with different personalities and officials of Romania. The President of Greek Atlantic Treaty Association and the Executive President of Euro-Atlantic Council Romania - Casa NATO and Vice-President of Atlantic Treaty Association, Mr. Alex Serban, met in the capital city of Romania on the 26th of May 2009. 5th Europe-Russia Forum
Between the 25th and the 27th of May, 2009 Bucharest was witness of a very important event – a Conference devoted to the relations between the European Union and the Russian Federation. The 5th EU – Russia Forum was organized by the Polish Foundation Institute for Eastern Studies, in collaboration with the Romanian Presidential Administration’s National Security Department, under the High Patronage of the President of Romania, Traian Basescu. The event was attended by over 250 officials, politicians, business environment and civil society representatives from 32 European, North-American and Asian countries. 60 years of NATO: Summit in Strasbourg/Kehl
The Strasbourg–Kehl Summit was held in Strasbourg, France, and in Kehl and Baden-Baden, Germany, on 3-4 April 2009. The venue of the summit was chosen as a powerful symbol of Europe’s post-World War II reconciliation. The summit marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). The fourth NATO Youth Summit was held on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary NATO Summit meeting in Strasbourg/Kehl. 300 young professionals from the 28 NATO countries gathered in Strasbourg from April 1st to April 4th to discuss about “NATO in 2020: What Lies Ahead”. NATO Youth Summit was organized by NATO's Public Diplomacy Division, the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA), the Office Franco-Allemand Pour La Jeunesse, France3 Alsace, and the Ecole National d’Administration (ENA).
This year Greece was represented by Aikaterini – Aliki Loutzaki, graduate of the Athens University of Economics and Business in the field of Business Administration, former Public Relation Officer and former President of the Youth of the Greek Association for Atlantic & European Cooperation and nowadays, Councellor of the Vice Mayor of the Municipality of Athens. The 17th International Antalya Conference on Security and Cooperation was held from 30th to 31st of January 2009 in Antalya, Turkey. The topic of the Conference was “Changing Security Environment and a Renewed Transatlantic Vision for the 21st Century”.
